Tyco for Sellafield 

Design and manufacture 24vDC PSU/Charger system

Harland Simon designed and manufactured a 24vDC PSU/Charger System including a dedicated battery charger enclosure. The charger was rated for 55A continuous load with a short term load of 70A maximum. The system supports the customer's load, in this case, incandescent lighting, for 6 hours in the event of AC mains failure. Options include volt/amp meters, LED's, alarms and mimic front panel.

Broughton Printers 

Riello 160kVA UPS

Broughton Printers selected Harland Simon UPS primarily due to an excellent business relationship with our sister company Harland Simon PLC. Harland Simon UPS supplied and installed a UPS System capable of supplying 128kW for 60 minutes. The system included SNMP to provide remote access/SMS alerts to notify them of any power related problems.

Tait Communications 

17 x 19" 1U Custom Power Supplies

Tait requested a 24vDC/350w 19" Rack Power Supply with a maximum height of 1U. Harland Simon were able to utilise a standard PSU module and then design and build into a suitable rack, along with relays, on/off switch and terminals.

Tait required a 24vDC/350w Power Supply for a new Radio Controller, although many standard off the shelf products are readily available.
Tait required a system to fit all within a 19" 1U rack but fitted with a number of specific features, i.e. LED indicators, fused output terminals and VDT free contacts.

A new customer to Harland Simon, Technology Solutions came to us with a contract to carry out works at a local education centre, including the provision of AC UPS to back-up equipment for 3 x locations, all with 30 minutes autonomy.

Chubb/Moffat for National Grid 

Riello 40kVA, 60kVA and 160kVA UPS 3kVA Modular System

To date Harland Simon has supplied, National Grid, via Chubb Systems, 8 x sites with an industrial UPS system, with dedicated special designed battery cubicles, as part of the government Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) directive.

1 x MLT 40kVA UPS & Battery Cubicle

Lucite, an existing customer of Harland Simon UPS, needed to relocate the UPS that we had originally supplied and maintained for many years to a different area with better environment conditions within their site.
As this UPS was old and it required extensive works it was decided that a new 40KVA system should be installed.
Harland Simon supplied a new 3ph/3ph UPS and extended runtime battery cubicle and carried out the decommissioning and removal of the old system at site.

Mars (Chocolate)

4 x Riello 20kVA Multiplus

Mars approached us with the intention of replacing an existing UPS configuration, but required a new arrangement to allow forthe existing load and future expansion.
Harland Simon supplied 4 x MLM 20kVA UPS and Extended Battery Cubicles, which will support a full load of 18kW for 32 mins.
All works were carried out of hours to suit Mars, including the removal and disposal of the old UPS.

3 x EX RT 7kVA & 15 x Battery Packs

We were asked to provide a 19" rack UPS solution to support a load of 1540W for 4 hours.
We offered, and was subsequently ordered the Eaton EXRT 7kVA Power Module and 5 x Battery Packs per system.
The end location is Heysham Nuclear Power Station, for which the UPS is being used to backup critical security equipment.

Harland Simon was asked to supply a 19" rack UPS system to fit within a 600mm deep rack, supporting a load of 550W for 2 hours to supply critical backup power for an Intrusion Detection System.

Harland Simon supplied Chubb a UPS solution to support security equipment being installed in a 19" rack to support 1500w for 1 hour.
The Eaton solution, on this occasion, proved to be the best at maximising on the available space.

Advantex carried out a new security system installation for Hays Travel, Sunderland.
As part of the installation a UPS was required to support the equipment for 2 + hours.
Harland Simon supplied the Riello MLT UPS and Extended Battery Pack along with environmental sensors and wall mounted bypass switch.

Harland Simon secured a major contract to supply 4 x PW9130 (1kVA Tower) and 3 x PW9130 (2kVA 19" Rack) UPS systems to Prestwick Airport for their Ground Lighting Products.
It was imperative that the Routing, Guidance and Surveillance Control System (PLC) was kept functioning at all times so we opted for the Eaton UPS to provide the critical level of protection (True OnLine) against the 9 main problems associated with AC Mains Power.

Optilan required a solution to provide 48VDC from a 120VAC Input source rated at 1.2kW with the ability to support this load for12 hours in the event of mains failure.
Harland Simon fulfilled this application by supplying a modular DC PSU System along with loose 10 year Design Life Batteries for installation within the Optilan enclosure.

Eaton Powerware are the nominated approved supplier to supply AC UPS Systems to BT.
Eaton have nominated Harland Simon as their Power Partner to supply Extended Runtime Battery Packs for 1, 2, 4 & 7 hour applications.
In 2003, we were also awarded the 3 year contract to modify the standard PW9120 UPS to include filters, UK connectors, etc.
We now have a production unit for BT in which we modify 50-100 systems per month.
